Thank you Joe, for your kind comments…. I personally would not go so far, as there are many photographers whose work I respect and admire have taken many more captivating and inspiring images than myself!

Amazing shots Karl. The energy and passion that you have for photography is infectious. Sort of like Tom Pltaz has for bodybuilding. Pure passion. I wrote a small piece about why i fell in love with photography on blog recently. Check it out if you can. You are an inspiration to many.

    Hi Karl,

I can just about afford a new full frame camera, and i am going to purchase the Canon 5Dmk II.
I love landscape photograpy and started out with a canon 40D, which i still love and use for wildlife. In terms of quality how does the 5Dmk II hold up to this megapixel monster(Hasselblad) and how on earth do they cost soooooo much??

    Regards,

    Mark.

      Hi Mark,

It holds up pretty well, especially when you consider the price comparison. The Hasselblad is a full frame chip but it’s 2 and a half times the size (medium format) and up to 3 times the resolution in the 60mp option, the main differences here when compared with say the 5dmk2 are not about resolution but about depth of filed control because of the larger format and better tonal range also because of the larger format. The resolution is also higher which helps when shooting for big billboard or retail window stuff for ad campaigns.

      Karl.

Stupendous! All portraits should be in 4×5, the extra level of crisp makes all the overdone vintageish ActionPack trend so much commodity slop.
